Easy how to slide show for a healthy breakfast

Everyday students hear advertisements, moms and nutritionists say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The blogging crew at Cougar Food and Fitness wanted to see if breakfast really is that important. We  set out to find a reliable source and came across the Mayo Clinic’s website. The Mayo Clinic was ranked as the second best hospital in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in 2010 and  according to an article written by Mayo Clinic Nutritionist Katherine Zeratsky, there are three main reasons why people should make breakfast a priority.

  • Eating breakfast helps you avoid overeating.  If you don’t eat breakfast your body can actually increase its fat storage and weight gain.  Your risk of obesity increases if you don’t eat breakfast.
  •  Eating breakfast leads to a balanced diet that is nutritious and lower in fat.  You won’t feel the need to grab a cup of coffee or a candy bar if you eat breakfast when you wake up in the morning.
  •  Eating a good breakfast is equal to putting fuel into your body and this leads to a healthy supply of blood sugar.  Skipping breakfast is associated with less physical activity, because we don’t have as much energy.

But are people really skipping such an important meal?  To find out, blogger Lena Seino, a believer in the benefits of a great breakfast, first made a healthy breakfast to show us all how simple it is.  We believe her turkey sausage scramble is an easy meal any college student can throw together. To see if others agreed, Seino then went one step further and interviewed a fellow WSU student to see what might keep other WSU students from receiving the benefits of a good breakfast.
